With Trail of The Kings™ – Lake Toba by UTMB® we intend to make Indonesia known at an international level, boost its tourism and give more visibility to this wonderful place. It is a great opportunity, a perfect moment to show the culture, the traditions, the hospitality of the people and the great variety of activities that our land has to offer.

There are lots of volunteers involved in the various stages of race preparation. Volunteers are a great help for the Organisers of the event and assist athletes in all the different phases of the race.

The contribution of volunteers is fundamental and their helpfulness and passion are appreciated by all athletes they meet along the various stages: at race bib collection, at refreshment points along the route, at the start and finish line of the races or giving a hand to the lowest-ranking to encourage them to cross the finish line in the set time. And always with a smile!

Whatever your experience or profile, regardless of your age, whether you are retired, working or still in school, a sports enthusiast or just a trail running novice.

MISSIONS

Find below all the volunteer missions we offer. Whether you are available for a day or a week, whether you are sporty or not, whether you enjoy meeting people or prefer to be a solitary mountain person... you will definitely find a position that will please you!

You move in the great outdoors on the race courses in order to position the markers for the runners and are in charge of developing the route to minimize the environmental impact.

Helping to gather runner drop-bags at collection points and then distribute out to checkpoints.

Collecting, sorting and re-distributing runner gear on the start and finish lines.

Assisting athletes with directions and encouragement on course and provide event information. A great role if you want to see the action out on course.

Helping set up the food and drink options at checkpoints, feeding and watering runners, sorting drop bags and - of course - providing encouragement.

Helping to register runners and answering questions on the helpdesk.

You inform runners, accompanying persons and various audiences about the organization of the event and transport possibilities.

You carry out checks or medical operations for each runner and are mobile to be able to intervene quickly on the ground. You will be supervised by the emergency and medical department.

Welcoming runners after they cross the line and helping them recover, refuel and reflect on their incredible achievement.

You will be required to manage the flow of vehicles in car parks, arrivals, and departures of buses (runners and accompanying persons) or provide information at the transport information point or at the various refreshment points.

You take care of setting up and managing the premises before, during, and after the race. You set up and dismantle infrastructure.

You raise awareness and encourage volunteers, guides, runners, and walkers to respect the environment to minimize our impact. You control, clean, and mark the trails before and after the race.

In 2025, a 1st edition of Trail of The Kings™ – Lake Toba by UTMB® will take place from October 17th-19th, 2025. You can browse all the available roles before you commit to anything. Every volunteer receives a T-shirt, certiface and an experience of a lifetime. (Individual or group volunteers are allowed).
